User Experience Meet the exact needs of the customer, without fuss or bother. Simple and elegant Produce products that are a joy to own, a joy to use. Goes beyond what a customer thinks he wants Seamless merging of the services of multiple disciplines

UX Is the overall experience you have when you are using or interacting with something A great user interface is so seamless that we don’t even think about it – we just use it, get what we need, and move on. Bad user experience is much more memorable than good UX The ISO definition for user experience states that user experience is “concerned with all aspects of the user’s experience when interacting with the product, service, environment or facility”. User-Centered Design User Interface (UI) or Graphical User Interface (GUI) Usability Human Factors & Ergonomics Human-Computer Interaction

Usability If something is usable – whether it’s a Web site, a remote control or a revolving door – it means A person of average (or even below average) ability and experience can figure out how to use the thing and accomplish something without it being more trouble than it’s worth. –Steve Krug

Useful Definition of Utility = whether it provides the features you need. Definition of Usability = how easy & pleasant these features are to use. Definition of Useful = usability + utility.

UI – User Interface User interface (UI) design is the process of making interfaces in software or computerized devices with a focus on looks or style Designers aim to create designs users will find easy to use and pleasurable. Typically refers to graphical user interfaces but also includes others, such as voice- controlled ones. User interfaces are the access points where users interact with designs.

UI vs. UX Design Often confused with UX design,
UI design is more concerned with the surface and overall feel of a design, whereas the latter covers the entire spectrum of the user experience. One analogy is to picture UX design as a vehicle with UI design as the driving console. In GUIs, you should create pleasing aesthetics and animations that convey your organization’s values and maximize usability.
