American Liberty League: A group of wealthy conservatives that fought against the “socialistic institutions” of the New Deal
Father Coughlin: Catholic priest with a well-known radio program; denounced the New Deal for not doing enough for the poor
Dr. Francis Townsend: Felt the government had not done enough to provide relief for the nation’s ailing and elderly
Proposed a $200/mo. Federal pension for the elderly.
Would increase spending and open up jobs
Would inspire the creation of the SSA
