4 Regular Practices Regarding Regularly Scheduled Practices with Lyke/Nieland/Adam Those not competing at Sections do not practice this week There is no school on Friday, so… connect with your coach to figure out if you will practice on Friday or reschedule to another day

5 Guest Coach Practices This is the final week
Each speaker must attend a guest coach practice (if your practice was canceled last week due to snow, you must do TWO of these this week) There is an online sign up (details on a future slide) If you need a specific time-frame or want to work with a specific guest coach you’ll want to use this, otherwise you can just drop in Four non-Disco. team members may sign up to help Disco. students practice. Nieland will send you the task! You are welcome to drop in and do a 2nd/3rd guest-coach-practice if it fits into the coaches’ schedules (encouraged) You still must attend your regular practice Of course, the “Extra Practice Sign up” for practicing with Coach Ashley/Adam/Lyke is still an option, too!

If you need a specific timeframe or want a specific guest coach, use this please sign up by 9:00PM the night before You can just drop in, but then no promises on time/availability You’re welcome to drop in and do a 2nd/3rd guest-coach-practice if it fits into his/her schedule (this is encouraged!) 8 Family & Friends Showcase
Monday, March 28th — TONIGHT ALL attend and perform! (Not just the section team) Bring 1 dozen cookies/bars (beverages are provided) Meet in the Rocket Center @7 p.m. After a short overview of the year, you’ll break out into assigned rooms Done around 8:30 p.m. Be sure to invite your family, friends, teachers… This is the same day as our final Team Meeting If you’re not competing at Sections, turn in Blue Point Sheets at this event

11 Points Sheets Be sure to get your necessary signatures each practice/meeting! Make sure your name is at the top! Turn in your BLUE point sheets the week after Sections, April 11-13 If you are not on the Section Team, turn them in at Showcase today.

12 Section Meet – April 7 9:50 - 10 a.m. – Meet in Nieland’s room.
10:oo a.m. – Group warm ups 10:15 – Mix It Up Sessions: all present entire speeches A peer provides feedback for each speaker – 1 minute max 11:45 – Travel to Godfather’s Pizza Noon-1:00 – Lunch at Godfather’s (FULL team is invited!) We have the party room reserved! Bring money for lunch. See Nieland if this is an issue. Due to time constraints, all eat at the buffet : $7.99+tax (more if you get a drink) 1:15 – Board bus for Northfield (leave no later than 1:30) 2:30 – Arrive at Northfield

13 Section Meet Info. Bring lunch/dinner or $$ for lunch/dinner
Dress professionally. NOTHING too short/too tight/too low cut. Choose shoes wisely. Be sure what you wear works for your piece. Act professionally. Judges see and hear you in the hallways. Do not talk about judges. Do not talk about opponents. Don’t be surprised if a coach stops in to see you during a round.

14 Section Meet Info. City schools will wait outside the room until the judge arrives to enter. Be aware of this practice and do the same. Informative speakers – Set up your easel/boards inside. Then step outside and wait for the judge. Top 3 in each category go to STATE, Saturday, April 16th If you CANNOT compete at STATE, you cannot compete at SECTIONS! Let Nieland know TODAY if you are in this situation.

15 Sections – April 7 ALL non-draw categories: 10 minute time limit.
Draw categories: you will draw from ALL stories and/or topics – you will draw for EACH round. 7 minute time limit. Ex. Spk. & Disco: NO WIFI during prep/rounds. Discussion: ALL sections from the outline will be fair game. There is no “Grace” period this year. When/if you see the STOP card from the Timer, finish the sentence you are on and look like you ALWAYS end your speech here and in this way.

16 Sections Schedule 2:20-2:40 p.m. Team Registration
3:15 p.m. All Draws Begin 3:45 p.m. Round I begins, all events 5:15 p.m. Round II begins, all events 6:45 p.m. Round III begins, all events ASAP Final Rounds begin ASAP Awards in auditorium 11:30/midnight HOME (this is late: warn parents)
