The Local Government Training Group
Established in 1993 Reconstituted in 2010 A Council shared service for learning & development and capacity building Overseen by LGSC, but now hosted by Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council

Role ‘Promoting or assisting the development of, or providing, facilities for the training of officers’ To assist in the identification of training needs To facilitate the planning, implementation and evaluation of training programmes To assist in the development and allocation of resources

Coaching and Mentoring
Coaching and Mentoring Pilot 2016 Particular interest in a cross Council/cross sector Coaching & Mentoring Programme Procure external support 2019 to implement this new programme. LGSC have agreed to assist with administration and matching.

2 OD masterclasses ran early 2018 Organisational design masterclass organized for Jan 2019

E-learning Procurement exercise carried out in Spring 2018
No appointment made Current contract with Learning Pool extended until June 2019

Open Course Programme 3 open course programmes (95 courses)
Latest one will run until March 2019 Better geographical spread Procurement exercise for providers ran July 2018. Provider framework in place until October 2023. eLearning content agreements in place.

Elected Member Development
Supported an initial scoping exercise NILGA presented details on Regional Elected Member Development Programme Commitment to provide further funding

Council assistance Councils are able to claim for:
50% of net trainer fee for any Leadership courses up to £7,500 50% of net trainer fee for 10 internal course programmes £1000 for IIP assessments and £1500 for IIP40 Continued support QUB/UUJ leadership courses Figure to be agreed for EMDC Charter assessments
