1. Prov. 23: “Do not let your heart envy sinners, But live in the fear of the LORD always. 18 Surely there is a future, And your hope will not be cut off. 19 Listen, my son, & be wise, And direct your heart in the way. 20 Do not be with heavy drinkers of wine, Or with gluttonous eaters of meat; 21 For the heavy drinker & the glutton will come to poverty, & drowsiness will clothe one with rags. 22 Listen to your father who begot you, And do not despise your mother when she is old. 23 Buy truth, & do not sell it, Get wisdom & instruction & understanding.

2. John 14: "Do not let your heart be troubled; believe in God, believe also in Me. 2 In My Father's house are many dwelling places; if it were not so, I would have told you; for I go to prepare a place for you. 3 If I go & prepare a place for you, I will come again & receive you to Myself, that where I am, there you may be also. 4 And you know the way where I am going." 5 Thomas said to Him, "Lord, we do not know where You are going, how do we know the way?" 6 Jesus said to him, "I am the way, & the truth, & the life; no one comes to the Father but thru Me.”

3. 1. Buy the Truth And 2. Sell It Not
Two Principles:
1. Buy the Truth
And
2. Sell It Not

4. Buy the Truth Truth is often quite expensive!
Solomon says, “Pay whatever it takes!”
Our rewards come later.

5. 1 Cor. 15:19 — If we have hoped in Christ in this life only, we are of all men most to be pitied.
2 Tim. 4:8 - “…in the future there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day; and not only to me, but also to all who have loved His appearing.

6. Truth cost Jesus the cross!
It cost John exile on Patmos.

7. Peter began to say to Him, "Behold, we have left everything and followed You." - Mark 10:28
They said to Him, "Grant that we may sit, one on Your right & one on Your left, in Your glory But Jesus said to them, "You do not know what you are asking. Are you able to drink the cup that I drink, or to be baptized with the baptism with which I am baptized?" (Mk. 10:38).

8. Truth cost Jesus the cross!
It cost John exile on Patmos.
All the apostles but Judas paid a dear price for the truth! But Judas paid the most for the lie! …& the eleven reaped the rewards!

9. 2nd Great Truth: Sell It Not
If Jesus had sold out, none of us could be saved!
We often have opportunities to sell truth.
And we usually sell it pretty cheap!

10. Truth is Invaluable!
"Above all, to thine own self be true, & it must follow as the night the day, thou canst not then be false to any man.” Shakespeare

John 17:17 - Sanctify them in the truth; Your word is truth!
John 8: So Jesus was saying to those Jews who had believed Him, "If you continue in My word, then you are truly disciples of Mine; 32 & you will know the truth, & the truth will make you free."

2. THE Truth is the FAITH! –
Rom. 1: “...who was declared the Son of God with power by the resurrection from the dead, according to the Spirit of holiness, Jesus Christ our Lord, 5 thru whom we have received grace & apostleship to bring about the obedience of faith among all the Gentiles for His name's sake...”

13. Two areas where we must buy the truth and sell it not!
2. THE Truth is the FAITH! –
Jude 3 – “Beloved, while I was making every effort to write you about our common salvation, I felt the necessity to write to you appealing that you contend earnestly for the faith which was once for all handed down to the saints…”

14. 2 Thessalonians 2:9-12 Paul speaks of “the lawless one…”
“that is, the one whose coming is in accord with the activity of Satan, with all power & signs & false wonders, 10 & with all the deception of wickedness for those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth so as to be saved. 11 For this reason God will send upon them a deluding influence so that they will believe what is false, 12 in order that they all may be judged who did not believe the truth, but took pleasure in wickedness.

15. Where does this untruthfulness begin?
It begins with Satan! "You are of your father the devil, & the desires of your father you want to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, & does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar & the father of it.” - John 8:44

16. Eve knew the truth!
Gen. 3:2-3 — The woman said to the serpent, "From the fruit of the trees of the garden we may eat; 3  but from the fruit of the tree which is in the middle of the garden, God has said, 'You shall not eat from it or touch it, or you will die.'"

17. Eve knew the truth! BUT SHE CHOSE THE LIE!
Where does the lie lead? Away from God! Isaiah 59:13 — “Transgressing & denying the LORD, And turning away from our God, Speaking oppression & revolt, Conceiving in & uttering from the heart lying words.”

18. Where does the falsehood end?
With Satan in his eternal prison!
"But the cowardly, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, & all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire & brimstone, which is the second death” (Revelation 21:8).

19. Truth is the way to God …to heaven …to reward!
…. and Jesus is “the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father,” He said, “but through Me.”
