What is the International Foundation Year?
A one-year programme to provide the academic qualifications and English skills needed to progress to a UK university Equal to 3 A-Levels Specialised focus on UK learning and preparation for degree- level study Combination of coursework and exams Guaranteed entry to University Business or Science focused programmes available

The NCUK Guarantee Studying on the programme guarantees students two conditional offers from NCUK’s partner universities Students completing the IFY programme with a minimum of CCC and EAP C are guaranteed entry to one of NCUK’s partner universities

The NCUK Guarantee Recognised by over 60 universities worldwide. Students are welcome to apply to any university Option of Medical degree profession For students unable to meet the minimum requirements for the guarantee, there are options at NCUK partner universities and international study centres

Structure of the course
Students study 3 subject modules, in Business: - Mathematics for Business - Business Studies - Economics Or Science: - Biology - Chemistry - Mathematics for Science Plus English for Academic Purposes modules. See next slide. Assessment is a combination of both coursework (30%) and timed examination (70%). Assessed and moderated by NCUK and graded from A* to U

English Language Students can choose from the following English for Academic Purposes modules: - English for Academic Purposes - English for Academic Purposes for Proficient Users - Research and Communication skills Designed to provide the language skills needed for a UK undergraduate degree. Students generally move up at least one English level during the IFY programme. University offers are made on an IELTS-equivalency basis. Eg. - EAP A = IELTS 7.0 - EAP B = IELTS 6.5 - EAP A = IELTS 6.0

Tuition and timetabling
20 hours of classroom tuition per week 75% academic study, 25% EAP – this split addresses academic and linguistic needs As part of their weekly timetable, students will also receive: - Extra-curricular activities - Meetings with their Senior Tutor - University counselling - Supervised study sessions - PSHE sessions

How does a student apply for the IFY? Fill out an enquiry form on our website or speak to your Regional Manager. Our Admissions team will be in touch to progress the application Do applicants need to pay a deposit? Yes, we ask for a deposit of £1000, plus £350 registration fee. Students requiring accommodation will need to pay an addition £1000 deposit to secure their place Can students join without completing high school? Successful applicants should have completed 12 years of high school. However, we may consider entry on a case-by-case basis. Full entry requirements can be found here

Frequently Asked Questions
When will students receive their conditional offers to university? A student will apply to university through the usual UCAS channels and will receive their offers at the same time as other applicants How do students apply for places at universities outside of the NCUK partnership? Students can apply for these universities through the usual channels What happens if a students doesn’t get the results they are expecting? Students can apply for places through Clearing. NCUK’s placement service has options for the majority of students, regardless of their grades What can students study at university with the IFY? There is a huge range of courses available to students on the IFY Business or Science programmes, for a full list visit the course finder on the NCUK website
