4 Revealing God by Covenant
El Shaddai - Establish the covenant - Walk before me blamelessly Abraham and Sarah - Known to God with a new name While the covenant is mentioned in Genesis 15:18, this is the first time it is clearly established. God gives Abraham His name, and gives Abraham and Sarah a new name

5 Covenant Name Changes God and Jacob - Israel Genesis 35:10-14
Ge 35:10 God said to him, "Your name is Jacob; You shall no longer be called Jacob, But Israel shall be your name." Thus He called him Israel. 11 God also said to him, "I am God Almighty; Be fruitful and multiply; A nation and a company of nations shall come from you, And kings shall come forth from you. 12 "The land which I gave to Abraham and Isaac, I will give it to you, And I will give the land to your descendants after you." 13 Then God went up from him in the place where He had spoken with him. 14 Jacob set up a pillar in the place where He had spoken with him, a pillar of stone, and he poured out a drink offering on it; he also poured oil on it.

6 Covenant Symbols God and Noah – the Rainbow Genesis 9:12 Jacob and Laban – Stone Pillar Genesis 31:44-45 Ge 9:12 ¶ And God said: "This is the sign of the covenant which I make between Me and you, and every living creature that is with you, for perpetual generations: Ge 31:44 "So now come, let us make a covenant, you and I, and let it be a witness between you and me." 45 Then Jacob took a stone and set it up as a pillar.

Lu 1:59 And it happened that on the eighth day they came to circumcise the child, and they were going to call him Zacharias, after his father.

8 Covenant Truth in Moses
"Moreover the LORD your God will circumcise your heart and the heart of your descendants, to love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul, so that you may live” Deuteronomy 30:6 Le 12:3 'On the eighth day the flesh of his foreskin shall be circumcised. Jos 5:2 At that time the LORD said to Joshua, "Make for yourself flint knives and circumcise again the sons of Israel the second time." Lu 1:59 And it happened that on the eighth day they came to circumcise the child, and they were going to call him Zacharias, after his father.

9 Covenant Truth in Moses
For he is not a Jew who is one outwardly, nor is circumcision that which is outward in the flesh. But he is a Jew who is one inwardly; and circumcision is that which is of the heart, by the Spirit, not by the letter; and his praise is not from men, but from God Romans 2:28-29

10 Covenant Truth in Moses
A physical representation of a spiritual truth Cutting off the worldly part of ourselves A transformation from the heart With a covenant comes: A new name

11 Covenant Sign in Christ
Colossians 2:11-12 Repentance and baptism Col 2:11 and in Him you were also circumcised with a circumcision made without hands, in the removal of the body of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ; 12 having been buried with Him in baptism, in which you were also raised up with Him through faith in the working of God, who raised Him from the dead. 13 ¶ When you were dead in your transgressions and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He made you alive together with Him, having forgiven us all our transgressions,

12 Covenant Sign in Christ
Colossians 2:11-12 Repentance and baptism Romans 6:3-6 Death of the fleshly self Ro 6:3 Or do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus have been baptized into His death? 4 Therefore we have been buried with Him through baptism into death, so that as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we too might walk in newness of life. 5 For if we have become united with Him in the likeness of His death, certainly we shall also be in the likeness of His resurrection, 6 knowing this, that our old self was crucified with Him, in order that our body of sin might be done away with, so that we would no longer be slaves to sin;

To him who overcomes, to him I will give some of the hidden manna, and I will give him a white stone, and a new name written on the stone which no one knows but he who receives it.‘ Re 3:12 'He who overcomes, I will make him a pillar in the temple of My God, and he will not go out from it anymore; and I will write on him the name of My God, and the name of the city of My God, the new Jerusalem, which comes down out of heaven from My God, and My new name Isa 62:2 The nations will see your righteousness, And all kings your glory; And you will be called by a new name Which the mouth of

15 Covenant Sign in Christ
In repentance and baptism: - God calls us and we answer Him – 1 Peter 3:21 - We remove our fleshly mindset - We receive a new name - We are born into the covenant of Christ 1Pe 3:21 ¶ There is also an antitype which now saves us--baptism (not the removal of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God), through the resurrection of Jesus Christ

17 Covenant of Abraham For all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free man, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus. And if you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham's descendants, heirs according to promise Galatians 3:27-29
