The average person spends up to 4 years looking at their smart phone. These touch screens, encouraged to ‘connect’ us, have instead made us loose touch and pushed us further apart. Some have voiced their opinion for Facebook and other social networking sites to be renamed ‘anti-social networks’. The reason behind this is when teens are engulfed in their phones, they lack awareness of the outside world… the real world.

Sam has to write a persuasive essay on capital punishment. He has read a scenario which outlines the brutal murder of a child. The two individuals who conducted this act of violence; an 8 year old and his older brother who is 19 years old. Sam argues 19 year olds should know right from wrong, and so this person knew what he was doing when he conducted the murder. And so, he should be sentenced to death. Sam also argues the 8 year old, being so young and vulnerable, could not have fully understood what was happening. And so, should not be sentenced to murder.

10. A researcher recruited 24 volunteers, 12 of whom were non-Bingo players, and 12 of whom were Bingo experts. Their task was to complete 15 games of Bingo. While this was happening, their brain states were being monitored by an fMRI scanner. The fMRI results showed a correlation between the number of games won and activity in the left hemisphere. In that, the more games a person won; the higher the activity. The researchers explained this emphasising the importance of ‘shouting out’ when you have ‘Bingo’.
