Define Your Own Success
Choosing a career can be one of the most important decisions in ones life. You must have a good understanding of your passions and interests to pick the best career path. You need to be able to define what success means for yourself? What do I want? What makes me happy What do I envision for my future?

Make A Plan Its important to create a lifestyle you love.
To do this you need to create a plan because it is essential to setting goals for yourself to be successful. You have to think of all the goals, big and small. Example: If you want to be a teacher you need to set goals to graduate, go earn your undergraduate degree, etc.

Evaluate/ Research When deciding a career path you need to keep your interests in mind but there are some areas your need to evaluate and research. You must evaluate different factors that play into your career. These will be shown in later slides You must then research the top careers you are interested in. Find out what type of education is involved? What skills do I need? Etc.

Personal Evaluation What are my strengths and weaknesses
What are my interests and skills How are my social skills? What skills would I like to learn What type of school would I like to attend How many of years of school am I willing to attend. How much money am I willing to spend on education?

Physical Settings Where would your dream job be located?
City Country Foreign country What type of environment would you like? Office Classroom Factory What type of hours do you want to work? 8-5pm Flexible Mornings/ Evening

Working Conditions How do you want to dress for work?
Casual Professional Suits and Ties What type of work do you want to do? Computers Human Relations Machines/Tools Surgery What type of environment? High stress, loud, quiet, challenging?

Financial Rewards How much money would you like to make?
Is that a high priority? Do you want salary or hourly pay? Would you like commission pay or bonuses?

Psychological Rewards
Do I want to make a difference in the world? Do I want thrills and adventure? Do I want a secure job? A career that is respected? Or a position of power?

Relationships At Work Are you wanting to work alone or with people?
Would you like to be an employee or a boss? Do you want to work in a environment that is friendly and has a community? Would you like to entertain people? Do you like a competitive environment or where everyone works together?

Career & Personal Life Mixing career and your personal life is a huge.
Careers can affect your personal life so it is crucial to pick a career path that works with the lifestyle you want. Do you want to be married and have kids? Are you wanting to be able to attend family events and have a flexible schedule? Would you rather have a busy work schedule and be able to provide for yourself or your family?

Decisions As you can tell from this presentation there are many factors that go into choosing a career. Be sure to research and evaluate all your options to make the best decision. Remember, nothing in life is permanent. You can make career changes in your life, but it helps if you pick a career you are passionate about from the start. Keep your goals, and interest in mind.
