2 South-South Cooperation
According to IMF, since 1990’s only a handful of countries managed to advance to the level of developed economies. Hong Kong, Israel, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, Cyprus, Slovenia, Malta, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania. South-South Cooperation aims at creating a common, vocal and stronger stance among nations of «Global South» against the pending economic inequalities in the world system.

3 Developing Eight (D-8): Who are we?
D-8 is an international economic cooperation organization of eight countries: Bangladesh, Egypt, Indonesia, Iran, Malaysia, Nigeria, Pakistan and Turkey. It was established on 15th June, 1997 by the Heads of State/ Government of eight Member States in Istanbul, Turkey. It aims at bolstering cooperation in six priority areas namely Agriculture and Food Security, Trade, Industry, Tourism, Transportation and Energy. It also encourages initiatives in Banking and Finance, Health, Education, SME Finance, Research and Development.

4 20 Years of Economic Success
D-8 Member States have been recording an impressive economic growth and development trajectory. By 2017 the D-8 has become an economic club of 1.1 Billion People USD 4 Trillion of Total GDP USD 109 Billion of Intra-Trade USD 730 Billion of Merchandise Exports USD 790 Billion of Goods & Service Exports USD 45 Billion of Foreign Direct Investment inflow Following its 20 years of economic success, D-8 is geared towards becoming an ECONOMIC POWERHOUSE

5 Project Support Fund The Fund aims at financing prefeasibility and feasibility studies of projects that entail significance for the economic and social endeavors of our Organization. As the D-8 Secretariat, we have initiated talks with UN agencies such as FAO and UNCTAD to make best use of the fund as a leverage for the agriculture and trade projects. We are also accepting project proposals from the bright entrepreneurs of our Member States.

6 Islamic Development Bank
D-8 Organization for Economic Cooperation and Islamic Development Bank (IDB) have signed an Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the occasion of the 9th D-8 Summit in Istanbul, Turkey on 20 October 2017.  The MoU envisages cooperation in areas of implementation of Joint Projects; provision of technical assistance for projects identified by both Parties, with particular focus on transportation, trade, investment and Islamic finance, energy, industry and SME, agriculture and food security, tourism, science and education; and establishment of data banks, allocation of scholarships through IsDB Scholarship Programme, exchange of knowledge and information and visits by the personnel of both Parties to discuss matters of common interest and exchange of documents and publications on economic and commercial issues.

8 Addis Ababa Action Agenda
Addis Ababa Action Agenda of 2015 is the pinnacle of our efforts in building a global framework for financing development in Global South. Mobilization and optimal use of domestic financial resources -Development Agencies International development cooperation which complements domestic efforts and aims at endowing countries with scaled-up international financial support -International Stakeholders and Private Sector

9 New Platforms of Cooperation
Finance is an integral and indispensable part of development agenda however on its own, finance does not guarantee results. It should be complemented by a common vision among developing countries to advance, evolve and rise in unity. New Partnerships with FAO, IsDB, UNCTAD Agrobusiness Investment E-Commerce Renewable Energy

10 D8P - The Future ECONOMIC GROWTH: D-8 Countries are among the fastest growing economies of the world. PwC reports that in year 2050, D-8 countries will be competing with the developed economies in terms of total GDP. PRIVATE SECTOR INITIATIVE: D-8 has come into existence by the valuable support of the Governments of Member States. But moving on to the second phase of its lifecycle, D-8 aims at positioning itself as a private-sector driven Organization for economic cooperation. PROJECTS : D-8 realizes the importance of concrete projects to materialize economic cooperation therefore it encourages project ideas from all six priority areas. It actively collaborates with prominent international Organizations and aims at increasing the number of these partnerships.
