3. ARTICLE I You are in school all day (7am-11pm)
You must participate in an activity and it must be associated with JP Case Middle School
You must still attend school and class

4. ARTICLE II A school council makes decisions for the school
Students have a right to form groups
Groups must be centered around a common interest
Ex. Basketball
Groups can spend their money on basic supplies for their club
Ex. Bats and gloves for baseball
No more than three students in a group
Students pick teachers

5. ARTICLE III
Groups/clubs should be made up of people with a common interest
Groups should NOT be the “best friends club” or the “same hair color club”

6. ARTICLE IV Everyone must agree to pass a resolution/law
There will be one representative from each group on the student council.
The moderator (Mr. O’Leary) will listen to groups who could not make it.
Ex. Bulldozing the gym would not pass because sports clubs would not agree to this resolution.

Each group can choose the amount of HW, tests, and work they complete.

8. ARTICLE VI
Work=money
You need all groups to contribute work to the student council in order to pay for the upkeep of the school (teachers, sewage, electricity, etc.)
Don’t worry about how much an A is worth versus a B, and so on down the line.

9. ARTICLE VII
You can choose if that money is used for the school’s finances or just your own group’s finances
Each group will earn money for work they produce. It is up to you as a student council and individual groups to decide on what the money should be used for.

INSTITUTION: a group of individuals who create a organization which attempts to help and support its members. Institutions are based on a common goal or purpose, meaning membership can change over time (examples: schools, religious organizations, U.S. Government).

13. INDIVIDUAL VS. INSTITUTION
INDIVIDUAL: A person who has their own thoughts, opinions, and goals. An individual has basic rights and freedoms to make choices regarding their own life. Individuals are often part of multiple institutions.
