Why drones? Drones are quickly being recognized as a game changer in many industries as they bring with them huge benefits. • Cost effective – Gather data at height more cheaply than with costly access • Safe – Reduce falls from heights, the largest single cause of fatal injury • Quick – They can be quickly deployed and images streamed where needed • Reliable – GPS altimeters, waypoints, return to home and other developments make drone a reliable tool • Perspective – Aerial perspectives allow identification of items previously unavailable • Versatile – Visual, thermal images, unit counting allow companies to extract great value from data gathered • Automation – Potential to automate certain functions brings with it the enticing potential of replacing costly labour in the future

Why no drones in Security?
Yet they have yet to be adopted within the security market for the following reasons • Risk of Flyaway/Collision – High wind speeds, Electromagnetic interference or human error. Potential for drone loss drives represents a business risk • Time restrictions – flight max of 30mins is unsuitable for persistent monitoring such as security would require • Line of sight restrictions – Up to this point drones require the presence of a pilot which is a labour cost • Cost – Until now it has not been cost effective to equip, train and security personnel with drones Why no drones in Security?
