The End of Jacob’s life By faith Jacob, as he was dying, blessed each of the sons of Joseph, and worshiped, leaning on the top of his staff. Hebrews 11:21 Why was THIS the work of faith shown for his life?
Of all the things in Jacob’s life why was this moment the great moment of faith?
1. Other events in his life were not Faith – wanting the promise, wrestling with God, talking to God, etc.
2. Faith was believing in something he would not see

Jacob believed in all God had promised - Even though he was dying in Egypt Egypt looked like a promised land - He believed that Canaan was the promised land
Here is the big idea – Jacob’s last act proved that even though his life had not gone according to how he thought, he trusted God.

Jacob believed in all God had promised Jacob hoped for even more And all these, having gained approval through their faith, did not receive what was promised, because God had provided something better for us, so that apart from us they would not be made perfect. Hebrews 11:39-40
Jacob’s hope was not JUST the promised land; like his father and grandfather, his real hope was something eternal

Jacob believed in all God had promised Jacob hoped for even more "I say to you that many will come from east and west, and recline at the table with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven” Matthew 8:11
While it is hard to fully understand, we are told in passages such as this one that those who lived by Faith in the Old Testament also have a hope of eternal life (Dan. 12:2)

The nature of faith that pleases God Noah, Abraham, Sarah, Isaac, Jacob, Tamar, Joseph - Obedient – doing what God has said - Trusting – believing God keeps His word - Exclusive – not seeking other things - Desperate – seeking God at all costs
