2 Classroom Expectations
Students are expected to practice these expectations: Following directions Asking permission to leave seats Raising hands before speaking (no calling out) Respecting others at all times Following all school rules Classroom Expectations

3 Expectation Encouragers
When students meet expectations, the following occurs: Tickets turned in for weekly raffle Praise Scholarships Self esteem from meeting or exceeding expectations Daily Awards: The whole class participates in winning small daily incentives. Expectation Encouragers

4 Students receive two tickets at the beginning of each day
Students receive two tickets at the beginning of each day. Not following expectations results in: Loss of ticket Loss of second ticket Behavior not meeting expectations slip 2nd behavior slip and home contact Office referral/administrator’s punishment Habits of Success grades drop with each offense Expectations

5 Homework Policy Monday through Thursday
Reading 20 minutes is required 4 days (or nights) per week Posted daily on whiteboard and on website Students are required to write it in agenda Missing homework results in: Lowered grade on progress report/report card Missed practice on skills/strategies learned Homework Policy

6 Agendas Part of homework responsibility
Signed weekly by parent (by Friday am) Keeps students and parents informed of homework and upcoming tests and projects Parents are encouraged to view agendas nightly to make sure student has completed the homework Can be used for parent/teacher communication Agendas

7 Friday Folders Folders go home every Friday
Folder includes student’s corrected and/or graded classwork and tests Cover sheet has summary of student’s behavior, homework, and low grades on assignments and tests in folder Cover sheet must be signed by a parent every week Folder must be returned Monday morning Unreturned folders count as missing homework Friday Folders

8 Technology Use Students will be accessing technology daily at school
Please send headphones or earbuds in a sealed, labeled baggy for use with Chromebooks! Internet access at home is suggested for help with homework, projects, and research, as well as practice of math and reading skills If your student does not have access to technology, please tell me right away. 9 Extracurricular Music Physical Education Library
Fridays (starting soon) Recorders ($5-info to go home soon) Physical Education 75 minutes on Thursdays with P.E. 10 Grading Policy Standards-based grades will be given in:
Reading (includes oral language) Math Writing (includes grammar and phonics/spelling) Social Studies Science Grades follow a growth model of assessment Scale (does not follow a percentage or letter grade system): 4 – Exceeding grade level standards (not 100%) 3 – Achieving grade level standards 2 – Progressing toward grade level standards 1 – Not meeting grade level standards Grading Policy

13 Birthdays A book donated to the classroom is always welcomed
Please no food or goody bags Parties at lunch time or in class are not allowed Birthdays

14 Chaperones must be trained by Rhodes and have (and wear) a volunteer badge
No siblings or non-students may attend LA County Fair on Sept. 7th Chaperones are unlimited but must provide own transportation and be trained Text me on Remind by Friday 8/31 if you would like to chaperone Sacramento on May 17th Optional, see WorldStrides.org for more information if a parent has not attended any meetings We will add field trips as opportunities arise Field Trips

15 Child Information Sheet (please fill out and return as soon as possible)
