Closing: What are the steps of sending signals to and from your brain using your nerves? The Central Nervous System (CNS) responds to messages coming from the Peripheral Nervous System (PNS) from our nerves. Specifically, Neurons receive information from Dendrites. The Axons then carry the information or impulses away to the Nerves, who carry them to the spinal cord and up to the brain.

Functions are receiving info. about the external environment, responding to info., and maintaining homeostasis. (Ex: smell fresh baked cookies and your body receives info, you respond eating a cookie, you maintain homeostasis by providing your body with nutrients. Sensory Neurons: Pick up info from environment. Interneurons: Carry impulses from one neuron to another neuron. Motor Neurons: Transmit nerve impulses to activate muscles.
