Board Decisions and Direction on 2/5/08
The Board decided to: Exempt Ladera and Maple Schools from the school closure process to protect the Autistic Special Day Programs, students and staff in those schools from disruption Revise Criteria P1 – Enrollment to include all students attending a school Delete Criteria P4 – Facilities Condition April 4, 2019 Facilities Goals Committee
5
Board Decisions and Direction on 2/5/08
The Board directed the Facilities Goals Committee to: Rescore the remaining 18 elementary schools using the three revised Primary Criteria Establish a ranking from this scoring analysis, from the best to the worst candidate for closure Starting with the best candidate for closure, determine if the closure can significantly improve the balance of diverse students within the adjacent schools in the area. In addition, will the closure disrupt any SDC classes at the school, or result in unrealistic school boundaries or school sizes. Recommend two schools for closure that have the highest possible ranking on the primary analysis, but also best balance diversity, minimize disruption to SDC programs and result in reasonable boundaries and school sizes. Provide alternatives to the two schools recommended for closure April 4, 2019 Facilities Goals Committee

Revised Criteria Primary Criteria
P1: Total Number of Students Directly Displaced (includes resident, non-resident, and SDC) P2: Distance Displaced Resident Students Must Travel From Closed School To Receiving Schools P3: Ability Of Receiving Schools To Absorb Displaced Students Secondary Criteria (non-scored, subjective analysis S1: Impact on Diverse Student Distribution S2: Impact on SDC Programs Displaced S3: Impact on Resulting Attendance Boundaries, School Sizes and Capacity Utilization S4: Traffic Impacts April 4, 2019 Facilities Goals Committee

P1: Total Number of Students Directly Displaced
Intent Measure the disruption to all students who have to leave their school being closed How to Measure The number of all students displaced from the closed school including resident, non-resident, and SDC What to Measure The 2007/08 2nd month enrollment How to Score On a linear scale with the school with the lowest number of displaced students set at “3” and the school with the highest set at “1” April 4, 2019 Facilities Goals Committee

P2b: Ability Of Receiving Schools To Absorb All Displaced Students (Utilization Method)
Intent Measure the number of receiving schools required to accommodate all displaced students How to Measure Measure the total number of receiving schools, starting with the closest school and moving outward, that are required to place all displaced students What to Measure The number of receiving schools required How to Score On a linear scale with the school requiring the least number of receiving schools set at “3” and the school with the most schools set at “1” April 4, 2019 Facilities Goals Committee

Intent How to Measure What to Measure How to Score
P3: Distance Displaced Resident Students Must Travel From Closed School To Receiving Schools Intent Measure the average distance a displaced student will have to travel from their old (closed) school to their new (receiving) school How to Measure A weighted average distance from the closed school to the receiving schools What to Measure The average of: the available capacity of receiving schools multiplied by the distance from the closed school to the receiving school How to Score On a linear scale with the school with the lowest average distance set at “3” and the school with the highest set at “1” April 4, 2019 Facilities Goals Committee
