2 Pronouns after prepositions:
Remember that when working with indirect objects and the personal “a” the 1st and 2nd person singular are irregular. All the rest are normal. Pronouns will work this way following any preposition. (A/de/por/para) mí (A/de/por/para) nosotros (A/de/por/para) ti (A/de/por/para) vosotros (A/de/por/para) usted (A/de/por/para) ustedes (A/de/por/para) él/ella (A/de/por/para) ellos/ellas

4 NOTE: The following verbs do NOT need either por or para to work with them: Buscar: to look for Pedir: to ask for Esperar: to wait for

5 Simplest Summary: Por  Focus on the journey (means, duration, motivation) Para  Focus on destination or end point (looking/moving towards something/someone, purpose/goal)

8 P - Purpose in order to (with infinitive) intended for
Fui a la frutería para comprar fruta. I went to the fruit shop (in order) to buy fruit. intended for Esta llanta es para mi coche. This tire is for my car.

9 E – Exact date Deadline, by, for La tarea es para el lunes.
The homework is for Monday.

10 R - recipient El chico compró el regalo para la novia.
The boy bought the gift for his girlfriend.

11 F – future plans Destination Salimos para el salón de belleza ahora.
We’re leaving for the beauty salon now.

12 E - Employment Trabajo para el banco. I work for the bank.

13 C – comparison Para una niña de dos años, ella habla mucho.
For a 2 year old girl she talks a lot.

14 T - toward Toward a destination Conduce para el supermercado.
Drive towards the supermarket.

15 O - opinion Para ellos la clase de español no es muy fácil.
For them Spanish class isn’t very easy.

16 Tarea: Circle all the sentences in section A + B of the worksheet that you would use PARA for Write the letter of PERFECTO you think best fits next to each of these. THEN, pick 5 of these and translate them from English to Spanish.
