Category Awards Entry Template
The purpose of this template is to provides the criteria from which all category Award entries are judged and assessed. You may use any template of your choice however 20 slides is the maximum length of presentation to be accepted by the VSGA including all relevant photos. The balance between text and photos is at your discretion as is the design. The total file size of your presentation needs to be less than 20MB. Re-sizing your photos will keep the size down. Criteria 1-4 are on your school as a whole. Criteria 5-7 are on your specific Award category.

On your whole school 2/ General Appearance and Ground Facilities Provide a general overview of what your school looks like. You may provide photos of your main features and/or perhaps list others. This may include: Main school building/s Play grounds/equipment Sporting grounds/halls, fitness tracks Amphitheatre Gardens and plantings Worth 10 points

3/ Special school yard/garden features
On your whole school 3/ Special school yard/garden features What special features does your school yard/garden have? This may include: Other gardens not in this category Outdoor classroom/kitchen Hot house, shade house Compost bays, worm farms, aquaponics Water tanks, water saving devices Animal husbandry, wildlife corners Environmentally friendly features e.g. insect friendly Indoor plants Students art displays Worth 15 points

4/ New Garden/Grounds Developments
On your whole school 4/ New Garden/Grounds Developments What new or future plans does your school have for your grounds? This may include: Yard/garden projects New plantings Garden purchases Designs that you have worked on with your students Worth 10 points

In what ways does your school, teachers and/or community use the garden? This may include: Educational resource to enrich curriculum Outdoor classroom Area for play/recreation Space to encourage development of health and wellbeing External or special interest groups using garden Worth 25 points

6/ Student Involvement On your specific category Worth 20 points
How have your students been involved in the development of the garden? This may include: Planning/design Development/building Maintenance/up keep Kids teaching others about the importance of gardens To what extent do your students use the garden? Provision for part/whole school involvement, specific levels/classes Garden clubs, recess or lunch groups, special student groups Worth 20 points

7/ Parental, Volunteer and Community Involvement
On your specific category 7/ Parental, Volunteer and Community Involvement How are parents, volunteers and your local community involved in the garden? This may include: Working bees Classroom/garden helpers Involvements from members from different community groups Donations from local business/councils/environmental organisations Sharing arrangements with local communities Worth 10 points

Bonus points will be awarded to school gardens which:
Are sustainable – designed to protect, restore and enhance the ability of the landscape for self-sufficiency Demonstrate use of recyclable materials in a practical and/or decorative manner Worth 5 points Worth 5 points
