4
AsB Leadership Code of conduct
Behavioral Standards Much of code of conduct is based on district policies Similar to athletic code of conduct Responsibilities Attendance in class and events Staying connected and up-to-date with activities and events via Remind and Group Me
5
Important Info September will be a very busy month
Homecoming Week Homecoming Set-Up Student/Family Communication Mainly use Group Me or Remind with students Monthly Calendar As best I can Please try to work with ASB schedule whenever possible Encourage students to communicate conflicts in a timely fashion (48 hours)
6
How does the grading system work?
Graded by points, but categories are weighted 50% Reflections, 25 % Issaquah Hours, 15% Professional Conduct, 10% assignments This can look sketchy during grading periods as ASB is a year long course and we are building towards the end result so student grades will look funky at the beginning. Think of mid-terms etc. as a flash of what their grade would be if they did NOTHING else for the rest of the semester
7
Reflections grading (Three ways)
50% of grade Students will evaluate their performance on effective planning, organization, completion of projects throughout the semester. 2 departmental reflections 3 coordinator reflections Committee Reflections—where students are striving to meet the Washington State Leadership Standards Communication Group Processes Managerial Skills Self- Awareness Human Relation Skills
8
Committee Reflections
Working to reach 6-8 points of each standard throughout the semester Students reflect on how well they “met” standard on up to 4 criterions per project by completing rubric and reflection questions. Once students have met standard for a specific criterion, they cannot submit another paper for the same criterion. Students may redo reflections- will only have 1 week after paper is returned to them. What this looks like in the gradebook?
9
Assignments 10% of grade Assignments done in class and as homework focusing on leadership skills Worth a variety of points
10
Issaquah Hours 25% of grade
Each month students will earn a set number of points for participation in a variety of categories including athletic and club events, activity attendance, activity set-up/clean up Students can double points in certain categories by bringing guests who are Issaquah High School students Can only use the same guest once within each month 2 students cannot claim the same “guest” for the same event Changes month to month (depends on events that month)
11
Professional Conduct 15% of grade
Earn up to 5 points each week on participation, work ethic, timeliness, and on-task behavior 2 points per “assignment” 2 points earned if turned in on time and completed 1 point if turned in within “3 day limit” or turned in incomplete 0 points earned if turned in after 3 day limit
12
Late Work Projects- No Late Work is Accepted! Class Assignments
3 Days past due date Only loss of “professional conduct” points
13
Homework Policies Many aspects of the class will extend to outside class period Not limited to position duties—may include community service, class assignments, etc. Homework Assignments (1 assignment a week max) must be turned in at the beginning of the class period On most assignments, students will have a full week to complete assignment
