4 Announcing Good News What is some good news that you were given?
How did you share that news? How did people respond to that announcement?

5

6 Mark 1:14-15 (NLT) Later on, after John was arrested, Jesus went into Galilee, where he preached God’s Good News. “The time promised by God has come at last!” he announced. “The Kingdom of God is near! Repent of your sins and believe the Good News!”

7 Mark 1:15 - Jesus Declaration
The time promised by God has come at last! The Kingdom of God is near! Repent of your sins and believe the Good News!” (NLT) “The time has come. The kingdom of God has come near. Repent and believe the good news!” (NIV) “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.” (KJV) “Time’s up! God’s kingdom is here. Change your life and believe the Message.” (MSG)

8 Jesus Declaration What does Jesus announce? What does it mean?
Mark 1:15 Discuss The time promised by God has come at last! Change your life and believe the Message.” (MSG) What does Jesus announce? What does it mean? How are we to respond? What does that look like? What do you think was so special about Jesus announcement? Why is this the Jesus greatest announcement?

9 Time is here/come/fulfilled:
Matthew 4: This fulfilled what God said through the prophet Isaiah: “In the land of Zebulun and of Naphtali, beside the sea, beyond the Jordan River, in Galilee where so many Gentiles live, the people who sat in darkness have seen a great light. And for those who lived in the land where death casts its shadow, a light has shined.” See Isaiah 9:1-7

10 Kingdom of God is… near/here/at hand
“The kingdom of God is not a place that people go after their death. It meant God’s rule here on earth.” (NT Wright) Jesus announcing God’s kingdom was for a political revolution. His Kingdom has to do with His reign in the lives of His people; it is a spiritual realm nor a political organization. (Warren Wiersbe)

11 Repent! If you were to walk down the street and call out “Repent and believe the gospel!” people would think you meant “stop sinning and become a Christian.” While Jesus wanted people to stop sinning, for him repentance meant two different things as well. First, turn away from the social and political agendas you are trusting in, Second, turn back to your true loyalty in God. True repentance requires us to ‘turn around and go the other way.’” - adapted from NT Wright What social or politely agendas are you putting your hope in, and how has that turned your loyalty away from God? How might Jesus be calling you to repent?

12 Believe the Good News Romans 10: 9-15 (NLT) If you openly declare that Jesus is lord and believe in your heart that god raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with god, and it is by openly declaring your faith that you are saved. As the scriptures tell us, “anyone who trusts in him will never be disgraced.” Jew and gentile are the same in this respect. They have the same lord, who gives generously to all who call on him. For “everyone who calls on the name of the lord will be saved.” But how can they call on him to save them unless they believe in him? And how can they believe in him if they have never heard about him? And how can they hear about him unless someone tells them? And how will anyone go and tell them without being sent? That is why the scriptures say, “how beautiful are the feet of messengers who bring good news!”

14 The time has come. The kingdom of God has come near
The time has come. The kingdom of God has come near. Repent Believe the good news!” Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.
