Most one and two syllable adjectives follow the rules for the comparative and superlative forms. However, there is always and exception to every rule.

3 Adjectives with More/Most
For most adjectives that have two or more syllables add the words more and most to form the comparative and superlative. Examples: difficult, more difficult, most difficult colorful, more colorful, most colorful

4 DO NOT DO NOT combine more and most with adjectives ending in er and est. Example: Correct: Herons are larger than sea gulls. Incorrect: Herons are more larger than sea gulls.

5 Irregular Forms Some adjectives have irregular comparative and superlative forms. Examples: good, better, best bad, worse, worst much/many, more, most little, less, least

6 Guided Practice exciting rewarding good little bad More exciting
Directions: Write the comparative and superlative forms of each word. comparative superlative exciting rewarding good little bad More exciting Most exciting More rewarding Most rewarding better best less least worse worst
