9 23 May I-5 Skagit River Bridge collapsed at approximately 7:00 pm PDT. 52 minutes later, “emergency services advising that cell phones are no longer working.” I-5 is the main transportation link between Seattle and Vancouver over which 71,000 cars per day travel. The bridge is 60 miles north of Seattle and 40 miles south of the Canada border. Truck hauling a load of drilling equipment for Mullen Trucking in Alberta accidentally swiped a girder.
