4. Each TERM consists of two “quarters” &
each “quarter” is equivalent to a semester on a traditional schedule

This schedule allows for 2 fun classes each term and keeps student on track to meet graduation and college eligibility requirements. Talk about reasons to try an honors class in a favorite subject area. Consider extracurricular commitments and free/family time

5. 4x4 Schedule Grading
Students earn 1 final grade per quarter; 2 final grades per class
The 1st grade is equal to a fall semester grade and the 2nd grade is equal to a spring semester grade on a traditional schedule.

7. Benefits and Challenges
of the 4x4 Schedule
Students have only 3-4 classes on which to
focus.
Students can complete graduation requirements and have room to explore elective options, career pathways and other interests.
Students have more schedule flexibility and can take unscheduled periods while still meeting college and graduation requirements.
Course content moves at a rapid pace.
Students sometimes choose too many
demanding classes instead of exploring
electives or other interests
Students will have “gaps” between sequential courses.
If students are absent frequently, they will
fall behind in their classes. Classes meet
daily.
