How active should we be? YOU ….5-18 years old…….
at least 60 minutes intense activity each day PARENTS……Adults 19 – 64 years old at least 30 minutes every day moderate activity. GRANDMA/GRANDAD……over 64 yrs at least 30 minutes every day moderate activity. This could be in bouts of 10 minutes. How much activity do you do each day? What does intense mean? Stand up and march on the spot – march quickly until you start to feel warm and breathing is heavier – this is moderate exercise. Think of someone aged 19 – 64 yrs. How active are they? What about grandma and grandad? And younger brothers of sisters? Think of someone aged more than 64 yrs – what activity do they do and how often?

How active should we be? YOUNGER BROTHER/SISTER…..under 5 years old
Encourage them to be active – floor play, water play. Not sitting or lying for a long time when awake. How can you help your younger brother or sister to be active in a safe way?

Who knows the name of this leisure centre? Hands up if you use it. What do you do there? Who do you go with? How many swimming pools are there in Enfield? 5. Which is nearest to our school? How many lesiure centre’s?

How else can you be active? How many parks are there in Enfield – Which is closest to our school? What activities can you do? Tennis Ball games Basketball – EG; Enfield Town, Broomfield, Albany, Durnats, Jubilee Who can you be active with?

Who belongs to a sports club? Insert names of nearest clubs to school. Further information can be found on PE noticeboard. Information given in weekly new bulletins to parents.

How can we be more active?
How can you or someone you know be more active? Walk upstairs – don’t use lifts Get off bus a stop early. Park further away from where you are going. Cycle Go for a brisk walk – starting with 5 mins two to three times a week and increase the time and frequency. Go to the park as a family/friends Play games in the garden/park/playground
