South East Area Engineers have many different tasks: SR assesstments, prelim design of annual programme of works, dealing with cllrs, stakeholders consultations, LUAS cross city TM, liaison with consultants.

3 FRONT LINE SERVICES Service Requests. New per month per area + Appeals (new procedure in place) Monthly Area Committee Meetings. Agenda. Councillors Questions and Motions (3-23 per month per area) Monthly TAG Meetings. Agenda. Statutory Procedures Design of Annual Minor Works Programme. Implementation I expect extra staff in a section and my plan will be implemented

4 FRONT LINE SERVICES Planning Section requests (Part 8, LAP, pre-planning, pre-construction, compliance, taking-in-charge) Working with other DCC teams (Road Maintenance, Parking Enforcement, Law Department, Parks, Water and Drainage, Transportation Planning, etc) Working with other stakeholders Senior Management Requests Other meetings attendance Continuing Professional Development Neighbourhood Traffic Study Schemes – NEW TASK I expect extra staff in a section and my plan will be implemented

Assess requests from Councillors, Area Office, TAG Area Engineer, others Identify potential schemes Liaise with all relevant stakeholders Prepare case for intervention for each scheme

8 WHAT WILL INFLUENCE ENGINEER’S DECISION:
Local area development plans SDZs Transport SPC Walking and Cycling sub-committee recommendations Dublin City Council Projects, inc. Part 8s etc GDA Cycle Network Plan Bus Connects, Dublin Bus Planned developments Liaison with NCBI, IWA etc

9 SUMMER 2019 Top schemes presented to Area Committee Meetings for consideration Elected Representatives will have 8 weeks to consider schemes priority ranking Elected Representatives to vote on the ranking I expect extra staff in a section and my plan will be implemented

10 AUTUMN 2019: Some schemes may go ahead without the requirement for consultants or contractors Commence procurement of consultants /contractors as Appropriate for other schemes Regular updates by Neighbourhood Engineer at monthly meetings I expect extra staff in a section and my plan will be implemented

12 Based on our current policies, schemes which may be considered include:
Health and Safety Concerns which cannot be solved on a local basis Rat Running High Speeds through a network of inappropriate streets Pedestrianisation of streets Filtered Permeability to improve sustainable transport Larger / bigger picture schemes than the Area Engineer can ordinarily deal with Any innovations suggested by Councillors What was required to reduce backlog….

13 Schemes which are unlikely to be considered include:
Removal of commuter parking (without installation of pay and display schemes) Removable bollards for “residents only parking” Residents / locals only access One way streets (with very rare exceptions) What was required to reduce backlog….
