3 Purpose The purpose of the Student Activities Committee is to provide undergraduate and graduate students who have an interest in the IEEE Designated Fields or related professions with opportunities for educational, technical, and professional development, emphasizing the value of continuing IEEE membership. 3

6 Student Branch Awards, Scholarships, Competitions One of the BEST benefits of being a Student member. You should keep all your Branch members informed about the opportunities. Some are scholarships, others are fellowships or stipends. Still others are prizes for competitions. 14 What Section/Chapters can do to support of Student Branches Invite the Student Branches to their technical meetings (transportation help?). Provide speakers to SBs to promote IEEE. Contact EE & ECET Departments to request they promote IEEE to their students. Announce events to local schools with IEEE Student Branches. 14

15 What Should Student Branches do: Invite Section officers to attend university/college events Ask local Sections or Society Chapters if they can host an ExCom meetings at your school. Work with Sections to do STEP ActivitiesSTEP Request plant tours from local industry (through IEEE section and local chapters) Work with Sections to do a Mentorship Event 15
