What is genealogy? A study of the family. It identifies ancestors and their information. The research of past events relating to a family or families.

What is an ancestor? A person from whom one is descended
example: grandfather, grandmother, great grandfather, great grandmother

What is a descendant? Those living after a person who are in a direct line such as a son or daughter, grandson or granddaughter, etc.
