Change to Academic Calendar 2018/19
St Augustine’s CE (VA) J&I School Newsletter Tel: Friday, 22nd June 2018 Family Learning Dear Parents. Our Eid Decorations family learning session was extremely popular and enjoyed by all who attended. We hope to run this session again in the future. Could I please remind all parents that if you are interested in taking part in our family learning sessions it is very important to complete the reply slip at the bottom of the flyers and return this to the school office. Many Thanks Drop off and collection Please can all parents ensure they stay with their children in the playground until the bell sounds for the start of school. And also note children need to be collected at 3.20pm. Thank you Change to Academic Calendar 2018/19 We have changed a training day for next year’s calendar from Tuesday, 4th June to Monday, 3rd September which means the children will be returning to School on Tuesday, 4th September for the Autumn Term and Tuesday, 4th June 2019 for the Summer Term. Please find the new calendar on our website and copies at Reception. Thank you. How can you Help? Could you give up some of your time and volunteer to: Listen to children read Help out in a class Bake or cook with the children Or do you have another skill you could share with us? UNIFORM Please remember to pop into our uniform shop on Monday 3.30pm to 4.30pm to ensure you get the correct sizes ordered for your child. Please keep am eye out for our upcoming events and fundraisers we appreciate all the support we receive Attendance Attendance for 11/064/18 – 15/06/18 was 77%, our target as a school is 96%. Please support us in achieving this by ensuring your children attend each day. Late Arrivals - 34 sessions Absences – 70 sessions lost Extended Leave/Holidays – 56 sessions lost Please join us in welcoming our new Parent Governor Mr Mohammed Zahir. We look forward to working with him on future school projects. Our governors will be available to speak to any parents on Monday 18th June from 8.40am please feel free to come and ask any questions or just have a general chat.

Homework Reminder Don’t forget your child will have homework everyday, please help us to help them reach their highest potential by making sure they so their homework. Children who read everyday, not only read well and understand what they have read, they can achieve and become more confident in many other areas of the curriculum. Children who can read well are far more likely to achieve and do well later in life. Families, please encourage your child to read home/school reading book each day and support this reading by commenting in their reading record.. Thank you for your continued support. We have now received a new delivery of school sweatshirts. These are from a new supplier and we are trialling a different blend of materials. These will be priced at £7.95 each for all sizes except Small Adult which is £8.95. Are you receiving texts from us? Please make sure we have your up-to-date mobile phone number. Not only do we need it to contact you in an emergency, we send lots of information and reminders to our main contact by text. Thank you to everyone for helping and contributing to our fundraising events. We have almost reached the target for the new bouncy castle. We have a fantastic school spirit here at St Augustine’s! Congratulations to all our Year 6 pupils who sat their exams last week. They put in a lot of hard work in preparation for these and had such a wonderful and positive attitude all week.
