Drill: 8/27 What are two things you should consider that can improve any composition?
2
Learning Goal Students will apply a variety of drawing techniques in order to think from the right side of the brain.
3
Vase / Face; which do you see?
4
How about now ?
5
What do you see?
6
Micro lab #4: Vase Face Drawing from observation is easy, but you need to change the way you see. Everything is made up of lines. Demonstration Fill in negative space
7
Micro lab #5: Monster Face
On the left hand side of your paper, draw the profile face of a monster. You will use contour line. What is contour line? Demonstration. Fill in negative space.
8
Micro Lab # 6:Upside Down
You are going to draw slowly. Draw the lines you see, pay attention to direction of line and identify the type of line as you are drawing it: Zig Zag Curved Straight Parallel Perpendicular Organic Demonstrate Examples of Each type of line.
9
Directions Place your handout upside-down and cover all of it up but on inch. Do not look a head, it is better to not know! Only look at the lines and draw what you see and the same size. If you talk to yourself, only talk about your types and directions of line. ANY other talking will break your concentration.
10
Directions When the drawing becomes a fascinating puzzle, you are truly focused and engaged. Continue to only view one inch at a time as to not overwhelm your self with lines! Remember, everything you need to know is right in front of you, look no where else!
11
Conclusions…. Name some things you did in order to achieve accurate representation of Igor Stravinsky, Vase Face, and Monster? Describe the lines you drew- Use the words direction of line, size of line, width of line, type of line.
12
Answers to conclusions?
Slow down. Draw what you see, not what you think you see. Everything is made up of basic shapes and lines.
