PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT AND APPRAISAL SYSTEM (PDAS) TEACHER ORIENTATION
This orientation provides an overview of the elements of the PDAS system and its goal: “…to improve student performance through the professional development of teachers.” 4/4/2019

The Appraisal Process Important Points to Remember
The annual appraisal process shall include: At least one classroom observation of a minimum of 45 minutes, with additional walk-throughs and observations conducted at the discretion of the appraiser. A written summary of each observation, which shall be given to the teacher within 10 working days after the completion of the observation Completion of Teacher Self-Report-Section I presented to principal within first three weeks from the day of completion of PDAS Orientation 4/4/2019

The Appraisal Process Important Points to Remember
Revision of Section I and completion of Sections II and III of the Teacher Self Report Form due to principal at least two weeks prior to the summative annual conference Cumulative data of written documentation collected regarding job-related teacher performance, in addition to formal classroom observations A written summative annual appraisal report A summative annual conference 4/4/2019

Appraisal Process A teacher may be given advance notice of the date or time of an annual appraisal, but in LISD, there is a 5-day window Each district shall establish a calendar for the appraisal of teachers. Calendar must include all days of a teacher’s contract. Teacher Appraisers must be “certified” and approved by the Board of Trustees each year. 4/4/2019

(If you disagree with observation summary or summative evaluation score) Request should be sent to Deputy Superintendent for District Services with signature from principal Second appraisal scores calculated and averaged by Deputy Superintendent 4/4/2019

Summative Conference A written summative annual appraisal report shall be shared with the teacher no later than 5 working days before the summative conference and no later than 15 working days before the last day of instruction for students 4/4/2019

Summative Conference Unless waived in writing by the teacher, a summative conference shall be held within a time frame specified by the school district calendar and no later than the 15 working days before the last day of instruction for students. 4/4/2019
