VSAT Assembly 1. Place Indoor Equipment Case inside on a suitable surface & near an AC power source. Ensure workplace is well ventilated (prevent overheating). 2. Ensure Indoor Equipment alternating current (AC) breaker on rear panel and BOTH ANTENNA / RF Equipment switches on front panel are OFF. 3. Place Pedestal, Reflector, and RF Equipment cases outdoors within 144 feet of the Indoor Equipment. 4. Open Pedestal Case with front facing Equator and turn POWER OFF. 5. Attach outriggers to each end of the Pedestal Case. 6. Remove IFL and place within 6ft of the indoor equipment case. 7. Connect IFL connectors to the control box of the Pedestal Case. 8. Connect GFI Power cord and IFL connectors to the rear panel of the Indoor Equipment Case, & press RESET button on GFI. 9. At rear panel of Indoor Equipment Case, turn AC circuit breaker to ON. 10. At front panel of Indoor Equipment Case, turn ANTENNA power switch to ON (“Out & UP”). Leave RF power switch OFF. 11. Turn ON Pedestal POWER at control box causing green LED to glow. 12. Press and hold Pedestal DEPLOY switch for 3 seconds or until the antenna start to move. The antenna pedestal rises to a vertical position, ready for reflector mounting. 13. Set the POWER switch of the control box to OFF. 14. Assemble reflector halves using the three quick release levers. 15. Align and connect feed boom and struts (2) to reflector using three captive thumbscrews and friction-fit ball and socket connections. 16. Connect feed horn assembly to the feed boom with captive thumbscrew, remove feed horn protective cover and connect red cable to the BUC and blue cable to LNB. 17. Set feed horn polarization (if necessary). 18. Set the assembled reflector and feed assembly on the pedestal mounting wedge and secure using the four 1/4-turn fasteners. 19. Match and connect the color-coded BUC, LNB, GPS and compass cables at the rear of the feed boom to those from the pedestal. 20. Secure excess cable by wrapping the cable around the support bracket at the back of the reflector. 21. Turn ON the POWER switch on the Pedestal control box. 22. Check for illumination of the green LED. HR Net Connecting HR Providers VSAT Very Small Aperture Terminal FOUO “ Our Army at War – Relevant and Ready” The Adjutant General Figure 1. WARNING: DO NOT Stand in Front of Reflector during Operation. Safety 1. DO NOT stand in front of or place any portion of your body between the Feed Boom and the Antenna Reflector as shown figure 1 above. Doing so may cause serious injury to the eyes or any exposed area. 2. Keep hands clear of the IFL cable reel when extending/retrieving cables. 3. Use safe lift and carry procedures when handling the transit cases and UPS. Each case requires a two-person lift and carry at a minimum. VSAT Disassembly 1. Close Internet Explorer 2. Click the Shutdown button on VSAT Terminal Controller Software to perform a soft shutdown. 3. Follow prompts — turn OFF (“Out & DOWN”) RF Power Switch. 4. Close ViewSAT. 5. Close all open programs. 6. Close and secure laptop. 7. Once the pedestal arm stops moving, set Antenna POWER switch to OFF at the control box. This removes power to the pedestal and the second source of power to the LNB. 8. Disconnect and unwrap the BUC, LNB, GPS and compass cables from the rear of the antenna. 9. Remove assembled antenna reflector and place on a flat, clean surface. 10. On the feed horn assembly, disconnect the red cable to the BUC and the blue cable to the LNB. 11. Unscrew the thumbscrew between the antenna feed horn assembly and the antenna feed boom and remove the antenna feed horn assembly from the boom. 12. Carefully place the antenna feed horn assembly in the RF Equipment case. 13. Disassemble feed boom and struts from the antenna reflector and repack in the bottom of the Reflector case. 14. Carefully separate antenna reflector in two halves and repack into Reflector Case—(lower half goes first). 15. Turn ON Antenna POWER switch at the pedestal control box, press, and hold DEPLY/STOW switch to STOW for 3 seconds or until the antenna pedestal starts to move. (Power should be ON at Indoor Equipment Case at this time). 16. Once the pedestal arm stops moving, set the POWER switch to OFF on the pedestal control box. 17. Turn OFF (“Out & DOWN”) the ANTENNA switch on front of the Indoor Equipment Case. 18. Turn OFF the AC circuit breaker on rear of the Indoor Equipment Case. 19. Disconnect IFL cable from the control box of Antenna Pedestal. 20. Remove outriggers and secure in lid. 21. Disconnect IFL cable from the rear panel of Indoor Equipment Case. 22. Recoil the indoor section of IFL cable onto the side of the reel, and then recoil the used outdoor length onto the reel. Repack the reel in RF 23. Disconnect AC power cable from Indoor Equipment Case and place in RF Equipment Case. 24. Disconnect all input / user cables and attach Indoor Equipment Case end covers and secure latches.
