Here is an outline of tonight’s tutorial

3. Take a moment to familiarise yourself with the Collaborate Ultra tutorial environment …
Screen layout may vary with different devices (these instructions relate to desktop PC)
When you come in - for every tutorial - check your microphone & speakers - Settings in Collaborate panel (bottom right button)
click pink button – bottom right of screen – to get into the Collaborate panel
click on Settings – top right
then follow the prompts for audio & video
Keep your mic closed during the tutorial – except when you’re speaking
To indicate that you wish to speak:
click on the raised hand person icon – bottom middle of screen - to ‘raise your hand’
wait till moderator invites you to speak
To speak to the class
click on the microphone button - bottom middle of screen – to switch on your mic
When finished speaking
click again on microphone button - to switch off your mic
click again on raised hand person icon - to ‘lower’ your hand
To send a chat message to whole class
click on chat balloon icon – bottom right
type message in text box at bottom right – click on the smiley icon if you wish to add an emoticon
click ENTER
To send a private chat message to other student(s)
double click on their name(s) – type message in the chat text box – then ENTER
Collaborate etiquette – as there are lots of people in the room – please:
please don’t talk over other people
wait till moderator invites you to speak or type
HELP!
don’t panic if there are tech probs – or if your connection drops out – just try to log in again
if pain persists - it’s OK to give up! Just call the QUT IT Help desk tomorrow
