Mrs. Jones will send text messages about new scholarships, deadlines, and other reminders to this group so parents and students are all encouraged to join!

3. Graduation Requirements
The following are the requirements for graduation in Missouri. Students must have at least 24 credits to graduate.
English- 4 credits
Math- 3 credits, 4 recommended for college prep
History- 3 credits
Science- 3 credits
PE- 1 credit
Health- .5 credit
Personal Finance- .5 credit
Practical Art- 1 credit
Fine Art- 1 credit
Electives- 7 credits

4. Required Assessments
The following are the required assessments for graduation in Missouri.
Algebra 1 EOC - taken after Alg I or after Alg. 2 if taken as an 8th grader
Biology EOC- taken after Biology
English 2 EOC- taken after English 2
Government EOC- taken after Government
Missouri Constitution Test- taken during MO History
US Constitution Test- taken during Government
CPR Instruction (at least 30 minutes)- taken during Health
Information about these courses and required assessments can be found on your parent/student INow portal.

5. Senior Year Calendar August/September
Welcome back! See Mrs. Jones if you need to change your class schedule. You will have the first three days of school to do this.
Start a list of college choices and schedule a fall visit. Seniors have two excused college visits for the year.
Register for the October ACT Test.
Students interested in Division I or Division II athletics need to see Mrs. Jones to begin the NCAA Clearinghouse process.

6. Senior Year Calendar October
Submit the FAFSA by visiting Most colleges and universities require this to apply for institutional financial aid. It is also required for the A+ program.
Visit the Madison C-3 School Counseling website to search for scholarships. Do your own searches on fastweb.com or other scholarship websites. The Madison Counseling site is dedicated for local and Missouri scholarships only but there are many more!
Keep a calendar of deadlines for college applications, financial aid applications, etc.

7. Senior Year Calendar November
Early Action/Early Decision applications are usually due around mid-November to early December for most colleges/universities. Make yourself familiar with your college/university’s deadline. An early action/early decision can give you priority in student housing, financial aid, and other important parts of the college process.
Register for the December ACT test. If you did not earn a proficient or advanced score on the Algebra 1 EOC, you will need a qualifying math score/GPA in order to be eligible for the A+ program. You may also need a specific score for dual credit courses.
Continue your scholarship search and applications! This is an ongoing process throughout your entire senior year!

8. Senior Year Calendar December
Some colleges and universities have application and scholarship deadlines of January 1st. Remember to ask your teachers, coaches, etc. for recommendation letters early! Give at least two weeks notice.
Continue your scholarship search and applications! There will be several local and Missouri scholarships opening up in the Spring so get those Fall scholarships done as soon as possible!

9. Senior Year Calendar January/February
Complete your FAFSA if you have not already done so. This must be done online and as soon as possible.
Register for the February ACT.
Check the Madison Counseling website for available scholarships.
March/April
Complete and submit housing information for your college/university.
Send in any deposits that are required for your college/university.
Decision Day Assembly will be held in the gym for Seniors to share their future plans! Date is to be determined.
Academic Banquet is April 23rd at 6pm.

10. Senior Year Calendar May
Request your final transcript to be sent to the college or university of your choice.
Graduation is May 5th, 2019 at 2pm.

11. ACT Test Dates September 8th, 2018 October 27th, 2018
December 8th, 2018
February 9th, 2019
April 13th, 2019
June 8th, 2019
July 13th, 2019
If you have completed the necessary paperwork and qualify for free or reduced lunches, you may use up to two fee waivers for the ACT test per year. This only applies to Juniors and Seniors. Please see Mrs. Jones if you are interested in a fee waiver before you register.

12. A+ Program
Please remember that you are not eligible to receive A+ benefits until you have met the following criteria by your graduation date.
Attend an A+ designated high school for 3 consecutive years.
Graduate with a GPA of 2.5 or higher.
Maintain at least 95% attendance for the four year period. A+ does not distinguish between excused and unexcused absences.
Perform at least 50 hours of unpaid tutoring.
Score Proficient or Advanced on Algebra I EOC OR
achieve a qualifying score on the Math component of
the ACT test (see chart).

13. A+ Program
Maintain a record of good citizenship and avoid unlawful use of drugs/alcohol. You will be ineligible for the A+ program if you receive one or more of the following: 2 ISS infractions in high school, one OSS infraction in high school, or one Expulsion in high school.
Register with the selective service if required by law.
Complete a FAFSA application online.

14. Scholarship Reminders
When applying for scholarships, please remember:
Do not put them off until the last minute! Most scholarships require time and effort so get them done early!
Some scholarships are submitted online while others are turned into Mrs. Jones. The Scholarship page on the Counseling Website has this information on it.
Read the directions carefully on each scholarship. Many will have additional paperwork to send in like recommendation letters, test scores, etc.
Ask for recommendation letters at least two weeks in advance.
Scholarships are your responsibility to search for, fill out and turn in!

15. NCAA and NAIA Eligibility
Visit to register for the NCAA clearinghouse. In addition, you can review the academic requirements to participate in college sports. There are several resources available to you at this website. See Mrs. Jones if you have additional questions.
