The Black Belt Foundation (BBF) aims to break the cycle of illiteracy and extreme poverty
We are currently serving the state of Alagoas in Brazil
We are hoping to expand into other areas.

3. WHY ALAGOAS? Extreme Poverty—Unlike Anything in the U.S.
The average family in the areas we’re serving makes less than $200 per month
Poor Health Care
17% Infant death rate
Poor Education
Most people have less than a 5th grade education and many are illiterate
High Rates of Violence, Drug Use, and Prostitution

4. WHAT ARE WE DOING?
The BBF is working to use Tae Kwon Do to invoke social change
Give kids an alternative to the streets
We require students to be in school to participate in our program
Build a sense of community
