Pancreatic Cancer — What We Know Today Pancreatic cancer is on the rise More than 56,700 Americans will be diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in 2019 —this is a 2% increase over last year’s diagnoses Deaths caused by pancreatic cancer surpassed breast cancer a few years ago, and it remains on track to overtake colorectal cancer to move to the 2nd leading cause of cancer-related deaths in the U.S. around 2020 But There is Hope and Progress….. 6 Who We Are Connecticut 501(c)(3) non-profit since 2010 named in memory of Ron Foley, a West Hartford resident and Travelers executive, who passed away from pancreatic cancer in 2005 Foundation officers and board members are leaders from diverse industries, and includes a pancreatic cancer survivor

7 Who We Are Medical Advisory Board consists of medical practitioners, healthcare consultants, researchers and professors Office in West Hartford Center with three part-time employees and a very active volunteer team

8 What We Do Sponsor a series of annual events to build awareness and raise funds for pancreatic cancer medical research, education and patient assistance Best known for our major fundraiser “Ron’s Run for the Roses,” Connecticut’s premiere Kentucky Derby day event Voted the “Best Charity Event” by readers of Hartford Magazine in 2017 and 2018 and “Best Charity Gala” of 2018 for “Best of West Hartford” presented by WHMedia

Granted $50,000 to the National Pancreas Foundation for its educational symposium Sponsored multiple pancreatic cancer health education seminars for the general public in the Greater Hartford area and three Physician’s Education Symposia with Hartford HealthCare Sponsored two pancreatic cancer panel discussions with Western Connecticut Health Network in Danbury and Westport

In 2017, sponsored lecture by guest expert in the field of immunology for medical professionals and medical students at UConn Health In 2018, a major sponsor of the first pancreatic cancer medical symposium conducted by Yale Cancer Center

Since 2012, the Ron’s Rescue Fund has provided financial aid to patients fighting pancreatic cancer to help alleviate financial burdens We have raised more than $236,000 and granted more than $183,000 to patients across New England, New Jersey and New York ** Data as of 12/31/18
