‘PEER TEACH ME’ Learning Activity
Occurring within MY Dallas Brooks 5/6 classroom Educator: Jessica Iovannella
2
Use of cohort data Every week within 5/6 PLT data meetings teachers work together to identify areas of need within numeracy from assessment data and create a learning log to improve student performance. Teachers use the goals from the learning log to inform and guide their teaching practise during numeracy. Student then create their own learning goals that are driven by the teacher learning logs. ASSESSMENT derived from Naplan, Ondemand and Dallas Maths
3
Creation of student goals
Students create their own personal goals based assessment results and teacher feedback which given both orally, written and electronically. Goals are scaffolded to allow students to continuously build on their knowledge. Learning activities are designed to promote higher thinking and real world problem solving. Students are encouraged to use metalanguage during the learning process.

Student VIDEO EVIDENCE
Students use their netbooks, cameras, surface pros and tablet to independently record evidence of learning achievements. Students create videos to explicitly demonstrate the mathematical knowledge they have gained as a celebration of their achievement of the goal.

PEER TEACHING A space called ‘Peer teach me’ has been created on Office365 for students to upload their video. Peers can access these videos as a tool to assist them in attaining their own current learning goal. This promotes students engagement and collaborative discussion as they work towards their goals. Teachers across the school have been invited to use the videos to enhance collaboration between different grade levels and promote a sense of community amongst students.
