Integration of ME institutions in associations, bodies and committees of public health EFMI: European Federation for Medical Informatics IMIA: International Medical Informatics Association Scientific association Scientific association (Member societies) Requirements: Only scientific organisations, not governmental. At least 20 people. 200€ enrolment fee. Flexible fee (possibly higher, than EFMI). Fee depends on population and Income per capita. Institutional membership Academic Institutional membership A national counterpart Possibly a Working Group would be sufficient. Membership fee (200€/a). European Federation for Medical Informatics Association (EFMI) Keynotes Leading organisation in medical informatics in Europe. Represents 32 countries. Nonprofit organization. Autonomous European Regional Council of IMIA Concerned with the theory and practice of Information Science and Technology within Health and Health Science in a European context. European Federation for Medical Informatics Association (EFMI) Activities and Governance All European countries are entitled to be represented in EFMI by a suitable Medical Informatics Society. Each national society supports the federation by sending and paying for a representative to participate in the decisions of the Federation’s Council, the membership assembly. Apart from the Council, an elected board consisting of nine members governs EFMI. Membership and Organization EFMI is also open for institutional membership. Typical institutions, which become EFMI members, include universities, research organisations, federations, industries and organisations. Project web site:

European Federation for Medical Informatics Association (EFMI) Working Group: EDU - Education Activities Dissemination and exchange of information on Biomedical and Health Informatics (BMHI) programs and courses. Exchange of experiences of how BMHI is taught and to improve the implementation. Establishment of a database on programs and courses on BMHI education. Production of international recommendations on BMHI education. Support of BMHI courses and exchange of students and teachers within the EFMI countries. Foster the accreditation process of BMHI programs in Europe. Advance and nurture international cooperation. Stimulate research, development and routine application. Move informatics from theory into practice. International Medical Informatics Association (IMIA) Membership Member Societies: In each country only one appropriate body which is representative of activities within the field of medical informatics may become a Member Society. In an country where no representative societies exist, IMIA accommodates involvement through “Corresponding” members, especially within developing countries. Institutional Members: Corporate members include vendor, consulting, and technology firms as well as national professional organizations. Academic members include universities, medical centres, research centres and like institutions. International Medical Informatics Association (IMIA) Working Group: Health and Medical Informatics Education Objectives To disseminate and exchange information on Health and Medical Informatics (HMI) programs and courses. To promote the IMIA HMI database on programs and courses on HMI education. To produce international recommendations on HMI programmes and courses. To support HMI courses and exchange of students and teachers. To advance the knowledge of: (1) how informatics is taught in the education of health care professionals around the world, (2) how in particular health and medical informatics is taught to students of computer science/informatics, and (3) how it is taught within dedicated curricula in health and medical informatics. Established joined projects Danube Medical Informatics Network (DMIN). Preparation of joint proposals for Horizon 2020. Partners: UMIT, Assist Software SRC in Suceava (Romania), IMTM and UHEI Research project in the field of the EU-Societal Challenge 1 “Health, demographic change and wellbeing”. Funded by the German Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF, grant no. 01DS18002). Aims: Conduction of workshops to establish the network. One page presentation with related teaching, research interests, etc. Few demographics of the Institution: Size in faculty staff, charter, etc. (Size is important to decide on the fees; It is better for a related department to apply rather than the whole institution). Contact person with CV. Get in touch with EFMI President. Send brief application for institutional membership to EFMI President. Actions and plans Further activities Keeping in mind and search for additional funding options for the future exchange of staff and students. Decision for and application of ME HEI in public health associations of their choice. Further identification of certificates useful for ME HEIs staff. When, who, which field, what budget? -> Further Integration of ME HEIs staff scientific conferences, journals committees.
