Outcome of EMAC Survey Strategic Priorities Towards the Future (I)
Conferences Overall experience with EMAC is mainly affected by members’ satisfaction with the annual conference. Hence, attention should be paid to all factors proved to affect conferences’ success, namely social events, value-for-money, quality of sessions and optimal duration. The issue of quality of sessions was shown to be of great concern to most of the members, urging for greater efforts to be made. This should be linked to the reviewing process which seems to need further improvement. IJRM IJRM influences the likelihood of renewing membership, thus calling for attempts to be followed regarding its prestige, review process constructiveness and diverse readership. Judging from: a) the perceived lack of balance between qualitative and quantitative research methods, b) the desire for issues of current concern to business practice and c) the observed focus on econometric modeling, further actions concerning EMAC publications need to be addressed. High quality of papers should also be preserved and increased so that IJRM constitutes a useful source of marketing teaching and one of the first choices for the submission of best work. 3

EMAC Orientation Towards Business
Outcome of EMAC Survey Strategic Priorities Towards the Future (II) Other Services Members indicated that Website functionality must be treated with greater care. Additionally, downloadable conference proceedings could contribute to the improvement of the EMAC website experience and usage, which, in turn, affects positively general satisfaction with EMAC. Chronicle and Newspage might be further upgraded in terms of structure and informative character. Taking into account the low usage of Teaching Portal services and the respective low satisfaction scores, this specific service should be either improved in terms of usefulness and publicity or “abandoned”. EMAC Orientation Towards Business The necessity to strengthen academy-industry relationships actually emerged. EMAC should respond to the call of all members seeking for closer relationships between EMAC and business community and for more practitioners participating in the conferences. 4

EMAC membership will be worthwhile.
Outcome of EMAC Survey Strategic Priorities Towards the Future (III) General Issues Networking proves to be the only factor with an important impact both on overall satisfaction and loyalty and at the same time far below members’ expectations. Considering that for the young members it is the main reason for joining EMAC, it is a prerequisite for new members’ attraction. Social Events are signalized as the most crucial variable influencing satisfaction with conference. Improving social events might also lead to more networking opportunities under the spectrum of a co-aligned strategy. Attention must be given to the Membership Fee issue, which appears to influence the possibility of renewing and recommending EMAC membership. Networking, annual conference, membership fee and IJRM should be used together, in order to make the services provided by EMAC as unique as possible. It is a matter of addressing and improving the value-for-money issue, as members’ expectations will be more successfully met and EMAC membership will be worthwhile. 5
