2. I. Ford Takes over
A. Even though many people wanted Nixon to face criminal charges, Ford pardoned Nixon because he thought it was was best for the country

3. II. Foreign Policy
Ford signed the Helsinki accords, a series of agreements that promised greater cooperation between the nations of Eastern and Western Europe
The ceasefire in Vietnam broke down.
Ford asked congress for money to support South Vietnam but they said no!
With out aide from the US, South Vietnam surrendered to the North.

4. III. Carter enters the Whitehouse
Carters main domestic concern was energy and rising oil prices.
1) He tried a varied of things to keep down the price of oil but none seemed to work and made him appear to be incompetent.

5. IV. Carter and the Middle East
Camp David Accords
Carter helped work out the first ever peace agreement between Israel and a Arab nation.
Israel agreed to withdrawal from the Sinai Peninsula and Egypt agreed to recognize Israel as a state.

6. B. Iran Hostage Crisis The Shah fled from Iran during the revolution.
Carter allowed him to enter the US.
Iranian radicals kidnapped American hostages and demanded the US return the Shah in exchange for the hostages.
The hostages were held for over one year before they were released.
