1 TSI – Texas Success Initiative

2 All students in grades 8th -12th will take the TSI assessment
Students must participate in a Pre-Assessment Activity (PAA) before taking the TSI Assessments The TSI Assessments include Reading, Math and Writing (with Essay) TSI assessments must be monitored, students cannot take without a TA present or at home The TSI assessments are untimed – but students typically take 2-3 hours per test. Testing Window: Jan 27 – May 27

3 The TSI Placement and Diagnostic tests are computer adaptive assessments, and the specific questions that appear on any given test administration varies based on each individual student’s performance on each item. Questions increase or decrease in difficulty level depending on how a student responds Once a student begins one subject test, they must complete that test within 14 days

4 Students are required to take the math, reading and writing assessments and the diagnostics as needed. All rules and procedures must be complied with during this assessment as established by the THECB and College Board. Any scratch paper used by students during the assessment must be collected prior to the student leaving the testing area and shredded. The assessments are untimed, the recommendation is to plan for the student to attempt all assessments in the same day.

5 Pre-Assessment Activity (PAA)
The PAA will be accomplished during Mascot time. This MUST be done before a student can test. PAA participation must be tracked– any student who has NOT completed the PAA, should NOT be allowed to test. PAA will be provided to campuses to use in the form of a standardized power point.

6 Tracking All students must complete the PAA and attempt the TSI
