Formative Performance Task 1 SUBSTITUTION Topic Question: What social and political changes occurred because of the Civil Rights movement in Louisiana? (8.2.9) Featured Source: Parody Music Video by Mr. Betts Featured Tech Tools: Blackboard Laptop/ipad Internet Access Steps: Each person will log into my BB page (8th grade assignments>> Chapter 14 activities.) Click on the Brown vs. Board of Ed video. Be looking for key vocabulary words and key people mentioned in the video. Complete your viewing of the Parody Video “Beauty and the Beast” –Brown vs. Board of Ed Music Video (Mr. Betts). Be ready to share your thoughts in whole group discussion as a class. Assessment: Formative assessment will take place during a class discussion.

AUGMENTATION Topic: What social and political changes occurred because of the Civil Rights movement in Louisiana? (8.2.9) Description of Formative Performance Task: You will use Edpuzzle to view a historical video on Ruby Bridges and her experience of attending school during integration. Featured Source: Video on Ruby Bridges Featured Tech Tools: EdPuzzle Blackboard Steps: Each person will log into my BB page (8th grade assignments>> Chapter 14 activities.) Locate and click on Edpuzzle Ruby Bridges Story. Click “Log in” found on the top right corner of the website. Log in using your given username and password. Click on the “start tab” to begin the video. Watch the video and answer the questions through the video. Be sure to “submit” when you finish answering each questions and click the “Continue” button. Summative Performance Task 1 MODIFICATION Topic: What social and political changes occurred because of the Civil Rights movement in Louisiana? (8.2.9) Description of Summative Performance Task: You will take a virtual field trip to examine different physical sites that played a major role in the Civil Rights Movement in the United States. Featured Source: Google Expedition Featured Tech Tools: iPad Google Expedition App Steps: You will have a iPad and access the Google Expedition App. You will then follow the expedition that appears on your screen. Be prepared to use your prior knowledge to participate in the group/classroom discussion. Once the field trip is complete, get in your assigned groups and collaborate as a group to answer the questions on your given worksheet. Summative Performance Task 1 REDEFINITION Topic: What social and political changes occurred because of the Civil Rights movement in Louisiana? (8.2.9) Description of Summative Performance Task: You will complete the Nearpod presentation and collaborate with your classmates and group members about the Civil Rights Movements and the effects on Louisiana. Steps: You will collaborate on this task with the class and your group members. Log onto your computer and enter the Nearpod code to access today’s lesson. Just like previously on Nearpod, you will complete the student paced lesson with your table members. You will verbally collaborate and answer questions when prompted to do so. At the end of the Nearpod Lesson, complete the quiz and submit. On the last slide you will be required to enter and least bulletin board post as well as “like” three other posts from classmates. Featured Source: Nearpod Featured Tech Tools: Laptop iPad Teacher Name: Heather Koonce School: Vinton Middle School Address: Special Considerations: Remind students about Act 837 and the correct way to put a nickname in Nearpod. Teacher may want to have a pre-done seating chart for groups. Assessment: Teacher will be able to view and critique student quiz answers, collaboration boards and other tools where students completed the activity on Nearpod.
