Students will have individualized spelling lists
Students will have individualized spelling lists. This means that each student will have a different spelling list each week. Students will pick their words from a student generated list based on the spelling pattern we are learning that week. They will also be using words from a list I make consisting of words they are misspelling in their writing. In the beginning students will have the same list until we learn the system. Once they have learned the system we will begin individualized lists. If you don’t need this slide, then delete it. Spelling Folder: Spelling folders will be in your child’s daily folder once homework begins. Please do not write in this folder. We use this folder to record spelling words every week. I will remove the folders on Fridays to prepare them for our use the following week. Please send these folders to school every day.

Absences Excessive absences hinder a child’s progress. If your child is absent you must have a note with the reason for the absence. Please include the date as well as your child’s first and last name. It is hard for your child to make up work missed in first grade since most work is hands-on and is done in class. Birthdays Birthdays are very important to children. If you’d like to send in a special snack, please let us know. Snack time is at the end of the day. Due to allergies only prepackaged snacks can be sent in. Toys and Water Bottles Please do not send toys or water bottles to school. Students may get water from the water fountain as needed.
