2 Neutral Neutral usually means without color. Neutral colors such as beige, ivory, taupe, black, gray, and white appear to be without color, and yet in many applications these hues often have undertones of color. A room painted with a neutral brown color An example of a neutral color palette

3 Monochromatic Monochromatic colors are all the colors of a single hue. Monochromatic color schemes are derived from a single base hue and extended using its shades, tones and tints. A monochromatic color palette A monochromatic design in a room

4 Complementary Complementary colors are pairs of colors which, when combined, cancel each other out. This means that when combined, they produce a grey-scale color like white or black. 5 Analogous Analogous colors are groups of three colors that are next to each other on the color wheel, with one being the dominant color, which tends to be a primary or secondary color, and one on either side of the color. 7 Fad This design revolves around a certain theme, and should only be used to suit the wishes of the designer’s client. A room with a fad scheme of wood, decorated with a wooden fence. A room with a fad scheme of recycled materials. Note the re-use of wooden palettes.
