The NWTHC provides housing supports across the housing continuum: Own approx. 2,200 public housing units Own approx. 430 affordable housing units market and subsidized homeownership rentals Own multiple offices and maintenance shops to support the public housing program Also supports homeowners through repair programs

Major Capital Plan includes: $7.5 million for New construction Public Housing and Market Yellowknife, Hay River, and Ulukhaktok $6.3 million for major retrofits to existing stock Targeting about 100 retrofits

Minor Capital Plan includes: $7.3 mil – Homeownership Programs assist about 400 clients annually Major Repairs and minor repairs, emergency repairs, Senior’s aging in place, preventative maintenance $2.9 mil – Minor Capital Projects Fuel Tank Replacements, Demolitions, and minor repairs of owned assets

Affordable Housing Partnership Opportunities
Community Housing Support Initiative Supports affordable housing partnerships between Indigenous governments, community stakeholders, and the NWTHC. Allows organizations to access financial or in-kind support to deliver and manage innovative affordable housing solutions of their own design. Building is owned by the community government (or stakeholder) Application based – apply through the NWTHC Past projects supported Salt River – 2 homes, and Jean Marie River – 1 home

National Housing Strategy Co-Investment Fund Repair and renewal stream To ensure existing rental housing is not lost to disrepair New construction stream To develop new, high-energy performing affordable housing integrated with supports and services (better accessibility, visitable)

Affordable Housing Partnership Opportunities
Co-Investment Fund $15.9-billion federally managed National Housing Co-Investment Fund. $60 million targeted for NWT over 9 years (some cost matching) NWTHC will be a primary partner in Co-Investment Fund projects with the federal agency, the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC). Together will seek to attract partnerships with municipalities, non-profits, and the private sector.
