Common Core Curriculum
Hinsdale has a school wide behavior plan that focuses on reinforcing good behavior. We give students many chances to make good choices and use a clip chart system to monitor their behavior. We will use a behavior calendar to communicate with you daily. Purple (1+)- Worked above expectations! Blue (1 )- Worked extra hard! Green (2) - Worked hard today! Pink (3) - Ready to fly! Everyone starts the day here. Yellow (4) - Had an awesome day! Red (5) – Did not follow class rules. In Kindergarten we use the Scott Foresman Reading Series. This series focuses on beginning writing and reading skills. Letter Formation Letter/Sound Recognition Syllables Rhyming Isolate sounds in words Blending sounds to read CVC words Segment sounds in CVC words to spell Story Comprehension Dictating and writing sentences Myself and Others My Family and Other Families My School and School Community My neighborhood Our community on a map or globe Human Needs and Wants Helping one another meet needs and wants Symbols of Citizenship Rights, responsibilities and roles of citizenship People making and changing rules and laws Rules for safety

~ Library Thursday ~ Music Friday ~ Gym ~ “A” Week– Library “B” Week– Music LUNCH ~ 11:02-11:32 ___ 12 sharpened pencils (We will provide a pencil box for your child) ___ 15 or more glue sticks- we use these frequently and tend to run out during the year. ___ 2 boxes of wet wipes/Clorox wipes (we use these for quick clean up after art projects) ___ 6 dry erase markers (skinny Expo brand are best,)Other brands tend to leave stains on the white boards. Skinny marker tips are easier for beginning writers.) ___ 1 box pint or quart-size plastic baggies (girls) 1 box gallon-size plastic baggies (boys) ___ 1-2 boxes of tissues ___ Crayons- (3) boxes of Crayola crayons (24 pack, please.) -No colored pencils or markers, please.
