3 Pitcher and Fruit by Paul Cezanne
Here are some famous examples of Still Life paintings… This was painted in It is Oil on canvas. (Private Collection aka not owned by a museum) Cezanne Pitcher and Fruit by Paul Cezanne

4 Anne was a French Painter who lived from 1744-1818
Anne was a French Painter who lived from She lived in Paris and painted this in 1770 Matisse

5 Van Gogh This one of Van Gogh’s most famous paintings! He painted it in 1889 and it resides in the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam, The Netherlands.

6 Today’s Project Still life. What does still life mean?
Today we are going to draw and cut out objects using simple shapes An orange is what shape? What about an apple? Still Life: A painting or drawing of an arrangement of objects (inanimate), typically including fruit and flowers and objects contrasting with these in texture, such as bowls and glassware.

7 See what is in front of you
Proportion - What is the biggest thing and what is the smallest Where do the shapes overlap? What are the shapes in between the objects? Foreground and background – look at the still life and see which piece of fruit is in the front which one is in the middle and which one is behind them all. This order will be different from your friend looking from the other side of the table.

9 Step by step Write your name on the back of your white piece of paper. Next we are going to take our black piece of paper we are going to cut a triangle in the bottom left corner. (please demonstrate) Table

10 Step by step Next we are to look at the orange and the apple on the table and see with our eyes which shape is bigger. Then we draw the circular shapes on the colored paper one orange and one apple and cut out. Now its time to draw the shape of the banana on the yellow paper and cut out.

11 Next Step You should have in front of you. One paper apple
One paper yellow banana One paper orange One paper black table Now you can glue with a glue stick the table onto the white paper. Then glue your fruit down onto the table. Take notice of how the fruit overlaps on the table and try to copy. You have now made a collage. This is an art piece made out of paper!

13 Best Part Lets take out some chalk pastels and play with decorating our collage. Add detail to the banana, the orange and the apple. Look at the texture and lines. Decorate the table. Look at your table cloth for inspiration. Decorate the back wall! Have fun!!
