Introduction of CCSS ELA… ‘what we need – what we hope for’ 3/31/11 – Language Arts Alignment Team Met Examine vertical alignment of CCSS ELA… Appendix B – ‘rigorous text’ 5/5/11 – Language Arts Alignment Alignment Team Met Review Common Core Mapping Project Develop Communication Plans 6/14/11 – Summer Language Arts Curriculum Work Groups Meet Develop year-long unit overviews Develop several units of study 8/25/11 – Math Leadership Teams (MLT) from each school (K-12) Met for Introduction to CCSS 9/22/11 – Language Arts Alignment Team Mets to share out and provide feedback Selected teachers begin grade-level pilots of CCSS Units 11/17& 18/11 – Language Arts and Content Area teachers attended a CCSS ELA workshop by Dr. Kamil for overview of CCSS and implication for classroom practice.

Implementation Plans CCSS for English Language Arts & Literacy in History/Social Studies, Science and Technical Subjects 3/9/11 Follow up with Dr. Kamil for middle and high school teachers and finalizing units to shared with all Language Arts teachers for feedback. 3/9/11 K-5 teachers and administrators introduction to the CCSS for ELA & Literacy in History/Social Studies and Science 5/11 All K-12 Literacy Leadership Teams (LLT) meet 6-12 finalize units and implementation plans and begin discussion on common assessments for each unit K-5 identify needs and develop a Transition Action Plan CCSS for Mathematics 2/9/12 – MLTs will meet for in-depth review of CCSS 5/12 – MLTs will identify need and develop a Transition Action Plan Administrator Professional Development 8/18/11 Provided administrators an overview of the CCSS 11/18/11 Additional professional development and discussed the shifts for math and ELA 1/18/12 Focus on the CCSS for Math to prepare principals to assist in leading the MLT on 2/9
