2. After the Pueblo Revolt of 1680
After the successful Pueblo Uprising of 1680 the Spanish abandoned New Mexico leaving herds of horses behind.
These horses became wild and began to run in herds across the West like buffalo.
The horse spread from tribe to tribe and changed the lives of tens of thousands of Native Americans.
