The MA OEP takes place from January 1 – March 31 of each year (beginning in 2019)
MA and MAPD members can:
Change to a different MA or MA-PD plan
Disenroll from their plan and return to original Medicare
Change Part D coverage
Only one change is allowed during the OEP
The OEP does not allow individuals NOT currently enrolled in a MA or MAPD to make changes or obtain coverage
MA OEP does not allow individuals on Original Medicare to enroll in a MA or MAPD. They must have a valid SEP or enroll during AEP.

Enrollment Period Change
Also, in 2019, beneficiaries enrolled in a MA plan may change his or her election one time during the period that begins the month the individual is entitled to both Part A and Part B and ends on the last day of the third month of the entitlement
Individuals may also enroll or disenroll from Part D
Example:
A beneficiary’s Part A and B date is 7/1/18 and they enroll in a MAPD plan that begins 7/1/18. They have until the end of 9/30/18 to make an election into another MAPD.
