4 Flag Here is the flag of Czech Republic. As you can see it is red, white and blue. The current flag of Czech Republic is the old flag of Czechoslovakia.

5 Fact file The size of Czech Republic is 78,866 km squared.
The population of Czech Republic is about million. The capital city is Prague. They speak Czech. Their national day is on the 28th of October and it is named ‘founding day’. Their currency is Czech Koruna. The national symbol of Czech Republic is a double tailed lion.

6 Landmarks The astronomical clock located in Prague is a clock that shows the positions of the sun, the moon and sometimes other major planets. It has lasted over 605 years. There will be a picture of it on the next slide .

8 Cuisine Česnečka = garlic soup. Rajská omáčka = beef on tomato soup.
Karbanátek = meat patty. Vepřo knedlo zelo= roasted pork. Sekaná pečeně= mince meat. These are some common dishes from Czech Republic, and these are mainly found in the restaurants there.

10 Weather/climate In Czech Republic they have cool a summer about degrees. At winter they have a temperature at about -5 degrees to -10 degrees.

13 History At the start of WW2 Czechoslovakia became a part of Germany. After World War 2 they became part of the Soviet Union. Slovakia and Czech republic used to be a whole country but then decided to separate. The first people to settle in what is now Czech Republic was the Celtic tribes in the stone age. They lived there until around 600 bc. The Boii’s gave a name to part of the country which is now called Bohemia.
